What do you think is the best skill/trade to learn?

I am heading into my first year of college this fall. I am currently 18 and want to learn a trade that could serve as a backbone for my future. I’ve heard that getting a plumbing license can land you a lot of money. So what do you think would be the best trade to learn. Don’t say it depends on your interests, I’ll just look at your answers and decide for myself. So whether it be an electrician or a plumber, give me your thoughts. Thanks!!

I would say heating and cooling, electrician, plumber and machinist…they take the most headwork and that cuts your competion. The more specialized the better….on the other hand, even if you do get into on of the more common trades…like framer, lawn care, roofer…and you get really good and it and word of mouth gets around, you are set no matter what the economy..but if you get a bad rep ( wont show up on time or at all, lousy, sh*tty work, etc) you wont work no matter what your skill…..

Plumber is a good choice, plumbers make more money than doctors.
